Runway works
Upgrades and regular maintenance of our runways are essential in ensuring continued safe operations at Perth Airport.
To enable these works, the main runway (03/21) and the cross runway (06/24) are temporarily closed at different times.
During the works, residents and businesses may notice temporary changes to the frequency of flights (either an increase or a decrease), depending on which runway is closed.
We appreciate your understanding as we undertake these important works.
The current works schedule will require the following closures:
| Date | Main Runway 03/21 closure |

13 February 2026 20 February 2026 6 March 2026 13 March 2026 27 March 2026

Runway 24 Instrument Landing System Outage
Due to construction works associated with the new runway, the Instrument Landing System (ground-based navigation aid) for the existing Runway 24 will be out of service from 18 March 2026 until late 2027/early 2028. Runway 24 is the north-east end of the cross runway, near Hazelmere.
During this time, when arriving onto Runway 24 pilots will be able to use an alternative navigation approach procedure that is based on satellite navigation technology. The alternative approach procedure uses the existing arrival flight path and there will be no change to where aircraft fly. Pilots may choose to use another runway with an Instrument Landing System in poor weather.
This change will not be audibly different for the community. It will not affect the number of flights operating at Perth Airport, or the number of flights using Runway 24 (except during poor weather when aircraft may prefer to land on an alternative runway). There are no changes to existing flight paths, and no new areas will be overflown.
